ABOUT ABOUT

Hello Everyone,

For those who don't know me, my name is Jacob Beaty and I am the Service Chair for Phi Delta Chi. I am happy to announce that Phi Delta Chi is partnering with Walgreens to help administer flu vaccines at some of their local vaccination clinics. All shifts, except for a couple, are 2 hours long with 2 available slots and you are required to work the entire shift that you sign up for. If you sign up for a shift and can't make it for whatever reason, you are responsible for finding someone to fill your spot.

Note: This event involves administering vaccinations, therefore you are required to have obtained an Immunization Certification prior to participating in this event. This means that only P1's that are Immunization Certified will be able to participate in these events. I recommend everyone review material for administering vaccines and proper technique.

These events are NOT Underserved.

When to arrive: Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your shift.

What to bring: You need to bring your white coats and a face shield. If you have your own that's fine, although I have some face shields for those that don't have their own yet and these will need to be disinfected at the end of each shift. You can either wear scrubs or dress in professional attire with your white coats. Masks will be provided, but it would be best to arrive wearing a mask if possible. Don't forget to bring your Immunization Administration Record sheet for PPD so that you can document your immunizations and get the pharmacists signature. Be sure to review the specific instructions for filling out this record beforehand so that everything is documented correctly.

Students Role Description:

1. Arrive at the flu events on time
2. Maintain professionalism
3. Maintain proper PPE
4. Help Pharmacist setting up immunization station
5. Direct patient flow during events
6. Help patients understand and fill out the immunization form that provided by Walgreens
7. Administer flu vaccine under direct supervision of a Pharmacist

Supervisor Slots: Those who sign up for these spots are expected to make sure all students and the supervising pharmacist sign the Service Learning Event Form and returns it to me either in person or emailing me a scanned copy. I will send out an email prior to each event with more information.

Each event should have 2 photos and they should be uploaded to PDC Google Drive or emailed to me if you have any issues. Photos must have a signed photo release form for each photo taken if it includes people that aren't volunteers.

If you have any questions about the events or what's expected of you feel free to contact me.

My email is [email protected]

My phone number is (615) 613-2303

Thank you to everyone that signs up and I look forward to getting out there finally and serving our amazing community.

Sincerely,

Jacob Beaty
